Established in 2025, the Parliamentary Network on Security (PNS) provides a space for ongoing dialogue on security as a priority theme for parliamentary cooperation across the hemisphere. Through this network, ParlAmericas convenes parliamentarians from the Americas and the Caribbean to advance legislative responses grounded in a multidimensional security approach—recognizing the interconnected nature of insecurity and promoting comprehensive, human-centered, and evidence-based strategies to address evolving challenges.
Its creation responds to the urgent need for coordinated parliamentary action to confront the region’s deteriorating security landscape, including the expansion of transnational organized crime, escalating criminal violence, the impact of insecurity on migratory flows, persistent sexual and gender-based violence against women and girls, rising illicit arms and drug trafficking, and the use of emerging technologies by criminal actors.
The PNS serves as a structured, specialized, and pluralistic forum that fosters political dialogue, facilitates the exchange of legislative experiences, monitors hemispheric commitments, and strengthens links with the inter-American system, UN agencies, development banks, civil society, and academia.
The PNS is governed by an elected Executive Committee, composed of the President and sub-regional Vice-Presidents representing North, Central, and South America, and the Caribbean.
