ParlAmericas contributes to strengthening security across the hemisphere by fostering informed, inclusive, and cooperative parliamentary dialogue on evolving challenges to the safety of citizens and nations. Through information resources, thematic events, and strategic partnerships, we create spaces for parliamentarians to explore emerging security trends, exchange national experiences, and identify practical legislative and oversight strategies that uphold the rule of law and prioritize human-centered approaches. Our initiatives connect parliamentarians with diverse stakeholders, including civil society, academia, subject-matter experts, and international organizations. In doing so, ParlAmericas advances evidence-based responses to pressing security issues such as organized crime, sexual and gender-based violence, critical infrastructure vulnerabilities, food and water insecurity, irregular migration, and the impacts of new technologies.
Parliamentary Network on Security
Established in 2025, the Parliamentary Network on Security (PNS) provides a space for ongoing dialogue on security as a priority theme for parliamentary cooperation across the hemisphere. Through this network, ParlAmericas convenes parliamentarians from the Americas and the Caribbean to advance legislative responses grounded in a multidimensional security approach—recognizing the interconnected nature of insecurity and promoting comprehensive, human-centered, and evidence-based strategies to address evolving challenges.
